With the State of Florida’s marijuana laws and regulations rapidly changing, medical marijuana facilities including retail dispensaries, distribution centers, cultivation centers and grow houses are rolling out in the masses. To help manage this rapid expansion and license holders stake their claims, Hurd Construction Management, a BHRS Company, is helping pave the way for this green rush.

Beginning mid-2017, Hurd Construction Management was awarded their first retail dispensary project to help a national wellness brand implement their strategy to rollout more than two dozen retail dispensaries and distribution centers within 18 months.

Each retail dispensary buildout’s construction phasing required approximately ten weeks to complete and eventually achieved a 31% time savings to open for business when compared to previous buildout strategies. In addition to the decrease in construction time, Hurd Construction Management achieved a 19% decrease in total construction costs.

Currently, Founder and Managing Director Brandon Hurd and his team are in the driver seat to launch 30 more medical marijuana retail facilities across the state of Florida in less than 18 months. To accomplish this challenging task, Hurd Construction Management is once again implementing their progressive, innovative and unique construction project management program designed to help clients like these achieve their strategic goals by opening their facilities when planned and within budget.

“Florida, especially retail, is experiencing a boom market before even considering the intricacies of navigating the medical marijuana space. These constraints require constant attention and proactive efforts on our part every day. Engaging key partners and keeping a constant pulse of each project is mission critical. Our current strategy is simply designed to increase program efficiencies and decrease the time to open each location. We achieve this by taking a comprehensive approach to our client’s unique objectives. This most often includes our involvement early on with the real estate teams and Hurd conducting feasibility analysis of proposed locations, consulting with site selection, preconstruction planning, and more,” stated Brandon Hurd.

This statewide rollout program is anticipated to take approximately 24 months to complete. The first of two program phases is valued in excess of $15M.
